What led you to do this work?
It started with my heartbreak in my late twenties. It took me to my knees. I felt I had ruined my life. I felt a loss, because my value was tied to the relationship. I didn’t know who I was without the relationship. I started on a quest for the next two years, and I lifted myself up with healing modalities. I started to take radical responsibility for my life. I realized I was creating everything. It led me to epic love.
What’s a shift in perspective that can help someone who’s healing from a broken heart?
One thing that’s helpful to understand is that when one door closes, it’s because another one is ready to open. Anytime we’re in a place of struggle, there’s an invisible door that opens inviting you to go on a quest, to find your spiritual self; who you are and why you’re here.
Ask your higher self, “Is there a gift I have not yet seen in my heartbreak?”
It may not come to you right away, but it will shift you into gratitude, which will help you move forward and find the gift. What we focus on grows.
When break ups include infidelity, self-worth can take a big toll. How can people detach a break up from their self-worth?
It’s important to understand everything is about alignment. There’s a better plan for you. If one door closes, it’s because another one is opening for you. Cheating is about the cheater. We blame ourselves as someone they wanted to cheat on. The relationship was already broken. Serial cheaters have an insatiable hunger for validation from the external. We need to get our validation internally first. That’s where our self-worth stems from. That’s another gift of heartbreak…to increase your self-validation and show you where your self-worth is.
What’s your best advice for someone who wants to find love but is afraid of being hurt again?
Move through your breakup with a mirror, not a window. Look at yourself, not him. Work on healing your self-worth. You’ll experience a lower level of hurt the next time. You will start to trust yourself. You learn that nobody can really hurt you if you have your connection to your inner sanctuary. The hurt is a portal to a new horizon full of gifts, one of which is epic love.
What are your final words of advice for anyone who feels like love is always just out of their grasp?
Start by connecting with a guide, a dating coach, someone to hold your hand through the process.
One of the things that helped me was connecting to what lights me up inside. Turn your light on again. What are your passions? They are a compass that leads to your purpose. That creates sovereignty, where you enjoy your own company. You then come at love from a place of abundance, not scarcity. When you find the jewel inside you, it’s impossible for others to not be drawn to you.
