The Thrill Of Dating in Your 40’s and Beyond
What’s different about dating in your 40’s and beyond?
From forty, it’s a fantastic time to get your life together. There’s a sense of redefining glamor with natural products. Women are grouping together tribally to help through this transformational period. We are more confident. We have had breakups and divorces and feelings of isolation. This is your time to work on yourself and to recognize red flags early on. We don’t have time to spend with the wrong people.
How can people in midlife date with more confidence?
Part of confidence is being okay with uncertainty and doubt. It’s brutal, but so important. Don’t ask, ‘what’s wrong with me?’ right away. Don’t take on other people’s negativity. Don’t react or receive it. That way you won’t become bitter or isolated.
How can people differentiate between intuition and a gut response?
We deal with fear from the moment we’re born. That’s why we’re equipped to feel when something is off. Listen to that feeling. If you’ve had a lot to drink, you won’t be able to recognize your gut response. Take a moment to process what your fear response is.
Intuition will be a pull towards something that might be good for you. It’s from the soul. It gives you insights. It’s a key step for transformation.
How can people become better at sitting with uncertainty?
Everything in the world is uncertain. Uncertainty allows you to spot check how someone shows up in dating. It allows you to be present and stop making up stories. If we don’t embrace uncertainty, we won’t have a right to doubt someone’s story. It allows us to be open and curious and take your time before committing. It’s essential for self-trust. It’s your best friend.
What are your final words of advice for anyone who wants to go on their last first date?
Listen to more of this podcast. Pause before you go out again. Redo your profile a little. It’s okay to doubt. Don’t go out thinking he’s the one. Make it so certain in your body that he’s coming in, but not necessarily the person in front of you. This gives you understanding that there will be men who are not right for you. Empower yourself with women who are happy, happy to date. Be okay with self-doubt after dates. Don’t become what somebody wants. Be YOU! You’ll meet your match.
