3 Habits That Are Keeping You Stuck

Habit #1: We focus on the PAST and FUTURE, and have trouble staying PRESENT.

When we ruminate on the past and project what might happen in the future, we waste precious energy. The past is history and we can’t change it, but we can learn from it and make amends in the present. The future hasn’t happened yet, but our actions today will determine what happens in the future. So, try and stay present as much as you can. It will save you from so much stress and worry.

Habit #2: We try to control the things we CAN’T, and don’t control the things we CAN.

If you’ve ever caught yourself being disappointed in how someone responded to a text, a gift, a kind word, or anything else, you’re trying to control something you can’t. And that’s crazy making. It stresses you out and makes you feel disempowered. What you can control is how you respond to someone’s words, actions, and inactions. You can control the stories you make up about why someone did what they did. When you focus on what you can control, you’ll have so much more ease and peace of mind.

Habit #3: We want what we DON’T have, and don’t spend enough time being grateful for what we DO have.

Have you ever wished for more money, a better job, or a wonderful relationship? Have you been jealous of those who have things you wish you had? How did that feel? I’m guessing not so good. Instead, focus on what you DO have. When you begin to realize how rich your life is in so many ways, even in hard times, you will rewire your brain to search for what’s good instead of what’s lacking.

Practice Working on What’s Keeping You Stuck
