—
If “Tell me about yourself” is a question that makes you feel like a deer in the headlights, think about how much harder it can be to answer through text on a dating app. With a bit of preparation, it’s much less challenging to prepare an interesting answer filled with personality. You’ll be able to engage your matches, and if they respond in kind, you’re on your way to a great first date. In this video, you’ll learn five tips for how to answer this awkward question in the best possible way.
How to Answer “Tell Me About Yourself” in Dating
- Share common interests.
- Highlight the most quirky and unique things about yourself.
- Tell them about something you’re proud of.
- Bring up something you did that week that was cool or interesting.
- Share a slightly personal story.
The most important thing to share is WHY. Why do you like to ski? What do you like about being a nurse? Why do you care for your aging parents? What do you like most about your hobbies, sports, books, movies, travel, etc.
We all have interesting stories to tell, but when someone we don’t know asks us a vague and open-ended question like “tell me about yourself”, we can suddenly feel like we have nothing to say.
The next time your match asks, “Tell me about yourself”…
Prepare your answers, so you remember how to share how awesome you are. And when you do, the right match will be inspired to do the same.
