What is it like to date as a flight attendant?
It’s a little hilarious! The concept of being a flight attendant is appealing to people and sparks a lot of fun conversations. The reality – extended time away, not being present for holidays, dating – can be challenging. The people I’d date started getting frustrated.
How do you make time for a significant other while traveling?
It’s a concerted effort to communicate with a partner. It’s easy for me to do, but some people I’ve dated have felt they were missing physical contact. Make sure they can forge a connection without seeing each other in person.
How can people make long-distance dating work, especially with an unconventional work/travel schedule?
You both have to be comfortable with the element of distance. If you have the same internal drive and are inspired by the same things, radiating with the same energy, that can sustain the distance. It has to be an intentional effort.
What are your final words of advice for anyone who wants to go on their last first date?
Don’t take rejection personally. Relationships are a give and take. When you’re dating it’s important not to compromise who you are. If you’re attracting someone at the risk of losing yourself, don’t do it.
